VISIT SPACEPORT AMERICA. This event for our club members is a tour by Final Frontier Tours and will begin at 12:30 PM on Saturday, August 12 at the Spaceport America visitor center at 301 S. Foch St. in TorC. We have reserved 13 seats for this tour on a first come basis. Please book your seat or seats directly with the tour operator BEFORE August 5th. Then, after you book, RSVP to the event. Your RSVP for this event indicates to us:
1.) That you have booked with the tour operator.
2.) That you will show up and you will have cash or a check to pay the tour operator.
3.) If you change your mind YOU WILL INFORM the tour operator and also update your Event RSVP to ‘Not Going’ and notify Mark or Dennis. We will need to find replacements because the club is responsible to fill at least 8 seats and is liable for no-shows. No-shows resulting in cancelation of the tour may be suspended from our membership.
To book the tour CALL FINAL FRONTIER TOURS AT (575) 267-8888 OR EMAIL: CR@FINALFRONTIERTOUR.COM. You must indicate that you are a member of the Tesla Owners Club of New Mexico, how many are in your party, their names, and other information required by the tour operator. The cost per person is $55.33 for adults and and $33.20 for children 12 years old or younger. Payment can be paid with cash or check only to the tour operator when you arrive (they do not take credit cards). The normal tour includes transportation from TorC to the site and a drive through the facility. It does not include a visit inside buildings or a view of the aircraft. However, we have made special arrangements to augment the tour.
Special tour – a TOCNM Member benefit: The TOCNM Final Frontier Tour may be augmented by a personalized tour inside a part of the facility by an employee of Virgin Galactic who is a relative of our President Mark Hawes. The inside tour may or may not occur depending on activities at the site. There will be no charge for the inside tour.
IMPORTANT: Adults and children can sign up for and join the Final Frontier tour and the Virgin Galactic Facility Tour. For the facility tour persons 18 or older will have to show a valid US passport or a valid photo ID and a birth certificate showing they were born in the US. Persons under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who satisfies the above requirement. If members of your party do not meet these conditions, they will stay with the the tour operator in a comfortable location while the facility tour is taking place. Keep this in mind before you book the tour with the tour operator. An RSVP to the event means you booked with the tour operator, that you agree to show up and pay for the tour and you understand the conditions to join the inside tour if it occurs. TOCNM will not book your reservation with the tour operator nor will the club be be responsible for no-shows. If you book with the tour operator and do not show you will be responsible for any charges by the tour company.

Scheduled Flight: The next commercial flight is scheduled for Thursday Aug 10th around 8 to 9 AM. For those interested, you can drive to the site, park in a parking lot outside the facility to observe. Meet at the Fast Charger in TorC at 7AM. There will not be any additional facilitation or details at this time.

I have updated the wording for the requirements for the facility tour to include children under 18 who are accompanied by their parent or guardian.
If there is enough interest with overflow we might sponsor another tour at a later date. Please respond here is you are interested in this and were not able get into this one. Also be aware that you can book a tour with Final Frontier Tours individually for yourself at a different date and time but it will not include the tour of the facility.

The next Virgin Galactic Launch is on August 10, 2 days before this tour, so those who are going on the tour or ones who are not can go down early and see the launch from the parking lot to the right of the entrance to Spaceport America. The plane carrying the spaceship will take off at about 8:00 AM with the launch from the plane sometime after 9:00 or 9:30 and the landing around 10:00 AM. I recommend those who are interested to meet up at the TorC Supercharger at 7:00 AM and drive out together. Bring binoculars, chairs, water, snacks and anything else needed since you won’t have access to the facility. I may or may not make this event since I have a lot of other things going on but recommend it anybody interested.
For those are going and want to do the facility tour send your credentials in by this Monday, August 7, to Brock Neely at Virgin Galactic at email address above. No exceptions!!!!
